This weeks edition of the Nudes Roundup is dedicated to the weird. Why? Because although there is a lot of inspiring, exciting, or just plain old titillating nude news, some of my favorite nude articles are about the whacky things people do when they’ve taken their clothes off. Somehow, nudity lends a bizarre sense of the delightful to even the most mundane of crimes. For instance:

Gender Bender
Most articles about strippers are looking at the lives of women, but this fascinating article from a Russian newspaper is examining the role of men in the naked establishment. What I find most interesting is that the same issues come up for men as for women. Many women interviewed for the story, for example, don’t think that stripping is shameful, but they wouldn’t want their husbands, boyfriends, or sons living the life. One cultural difference came up, however, that I find somewhat surprising. In Russia there’s enough of a clientele for heterosexual male sex work that it’s worth covering in the media. It’s unlikely that you’d find the same in the U.S. where women hiring men as sex workers is so stigmatized that it’s only rarely, if ever, discussed.

It’s hard to lie when you’re naked.

Therefore I have an immodest proposal. All important negotiations should be done in the nude.

Just think about how much more pleasant life would be. If you’re negotiating with your lover, nudity is a great way to defuse an argument. If you’re negotiating at work, nudity is a great way to make certain that the meeting doesn’t go on any longer than absolutely necessary. Plus, the knowledge that you’re going to have to take off your clothes encourages good personal hygiene – something that would make any workplace a happier environment. Read the rest of this entry »

There’s an old joke among public speakers. “If you’re ever really nervous about talking in front of an audience, just picture them naked.”

To me, this seems to be the epitome of stupid advice. I have never been in a room full of people where the audience being naked would cause me to be more relaxed. More aroused, yes. More disturbed, yes. More relaxed? What universe are you living in?

Yoga is a great form of exercise. It makes you strong. It helps you relax. It gets you energized. And, if you live in Cleveland Ohio, it is something you can do in the nude.

A Cleveland studio has recently started offering men-only naked yoga classes. Although started as something of a joke, they’ve actually proven to be incredibly popular. Nude Yoga has made some inroads in other cities as well. Apparently doing downward dog in the nude makes the whole exercise a more spiritual and sensual experience. If nothing else, staring at the person on the mat next to you should be a good distraction from the agony of spending a minute and a half in plank.
