In a somewhat unusual piece of naked news, a playwright has been protesting the fact that one of the characters in a Chicago production of his play spends the whole production fully clothed. Douglas Carter Beane’s play “The Little Dog Laughed,” is written to contain full frontal nudity, but in the recent production of the play at the About Face Theatre the nudity was stunningly absent. The playwright protested, but it was to no avail. Union rules require actors to be informed about the possibility of nudity before a production starts.

For the Sake of Art
Continuing the theme of “things you don’t expect to see in the news,” CNN is reporting that a group of Italian nude models have gone on strike. The artist’s models are asking for improvements in their wages because, as they say, they are talented individuals doing a job that not everyone can do. Although I don’t disagree with their logic, it seems a bit much to ask for full time wages for a job where you’re only working three months out of the year. Most professional actors take on part-time work to see them through down times… some of them even work as artist’s models.
